10 Muharram 1430   7 January 2009

In the name of ALLAH, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

All Praise be to ALLAH, Lord of the universe and Peace
and Prayers be upon His Messenger, Muhammad ibn Abdullah.
I ask ALLAH to guide my heart and guide my tongue.  I seek
refuge in ALLAH from misleading and from being mislead
into ignorance by others.

I offer greeting of peace to those who do good and the
Ummah of Rasulullah(saw):  As-salaamu alaikum!   ALLAH(SWT)
says in His Book:  “And slay them wherever you catch them,
and turn them out from where they have turned you out, for
tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter…(Q 2:190)

Thawbaan(ra) reported that the Messenger of ALLAH(swt) said:
the nations are about to call one another and descend upon
you just as those who are eating invite others in sharing
their food. Someone asked, “will that be because we are few
in number at that time?”  He answered, “no, at that time you
will be numerous. But you will be froth/scum carried by the
torrent.  ALLAH(swt) will remove the fear of you from the
hearts of your enemies and will put a weakness into your
hearts”.

Then someone asked,”What is that weakness?”  He replied,
“Love of the world and hatred of death”.

We as Muslims, and all God-fearing and peace-loving peoples
should express our solidarity with the Palestinian people.
What has and what is happening in Gaza is a crime against
humanity.  Palestinians are told to be free, to be at peace
and harmony with their neighbors while at the same time are
being denied the right to self-determination and the right
to religious freedom…  Their free-will expression to
choose their leaders has brought them scorn and punishment.
My condolences to all the families who have lost love ones
during this struggle, May ALLAH(swt) grant them comfort
and solace.  in peace, strong..in struggle strongest.

note:  41 years ago, in Century City, L.A., at Cheviot Hills
Park, Imam Jamil Al Amin(then known as H Rap Brown) was the
headline speaker at a demonstration against President L.B.
Johnson and the Vietnam War.  This demonstration took place
on June 23, 1967, just a week or more after the start of the
Israeli June 1967 Six Day War.  At that demonstration, Imam
Jamil spoke to a large crowd of whites (99%) with about 70%
well to do Jews.  There he openly spoke out against the Six
Day War and in solidarity with the struggle of Palestinian
people.

I wonder why they haven’t made a movie about him yet?

I thought he was in Atlanta. I didn’t know he is in Colorado. May Allah (swt) free him!

Subhana Allah. We need to hear more from Imam Jamil Al-Amin. He’s been hidden away, and forgotten by the big groups. He’s right on target, as usual, with his statement on Gaza – straight from Qur’an and sunnah.

Sheik Jamil has stood tall and on point over the years. Allah has continued to bless this beleiver with incredible insight into the concerns of this ummah. I pray Allah that his days may be long.

We should seek permission from Imam Jamil to start a blog. He could write letters to someone and then they can add it to his blog.

It could be like “imam Jamil: bloging from Prison” or something.

    What you think?

Rap Brown, .aka., Jamil al Amin, always had a gift for words (and his Musilm name clearly indicates that he never forgot ‘cool’ or ’style’).

Anyone know his madhab? Sociologically, his generation did not have ‘fabled’ views of Arabs or ‘Kings’ so I’m wondering, like Malcolm X, did he reverse previous perceptions?

If not, then he must realise that the blood in Darfur is apparently ‘innocent’ and the ‘udwan in Gaza’ must be regarded similarly applicable elsewhere.

Sensitive people must cry for the ‘ imagery of Gaza, but surly the religious terms ‘Shuhada’ for the senseless killing of women and children is a bit exploitative on the part of the Arab media?
Gloryfying death tends to trivializes it. The politics have failed and the media in the Arab world is trying to function as a political opposition. Not by attacking the real issue but by invoking a kind of ‘holocaust’ moral argument (pictures, operatic music, death and destruction) and allowing Arab regimes of the hook by deflecting criticims on to Israel alone.

thank you so much for posting this. i miss imam jamil al-amin and i pray for his release. when i was growing up in imam jamil’s community (not in Atlanta), our mosque didn’t have a particular madhab. i was told our community was ahlas sunnah wa jamat (not sure of the transliteration) i didn’t learn anything about madhabs until college actually. i don’t know if imam jamil still has that same viewpoint though…

We all miss Imam Jamil AlAmin. He has been a steadying force in the Ummah since the 60’s – 5 decades. We see the value of his work even better now that he is not with us. His analysis of the U.S. political realities in the 60’s are as accurate now as they were then. He is the undisputed leader-in-waiting of the American Muslim ummah. He is our Nelson Mandela. He continues to pay his dues – enduring prison, trampling of his reputation, and threats to his life. There are stories circulating about the elevation of his spiritual state because of the solitary confinement. Surely Allah will raise his station and allow all those whose hearts are connected with him to remain steadfast in the age-old struggle against the pharoahnic forces. They will never understand that we continue to receive inspiration from him in his absence just as the Iranian people continued to be inspired by Imam Khomeini in his exile. This force paved the way for his victorious return and knocked down the monarchical dynasty of the Shah. Islam is a force that is moving here and no one will be able to stop it!
